John Moloney
I was born in Manchester, England, grew up in Oldham, England. I emigrated to Alberta, Canada as a teenager, where I lived for many years. I now live on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada.

Deep Cove SunsetEngland showed me quaint villages and sleepy rivers, while Alberta exposed me to prairie, rolling hills, mountains and glaciers. More recently, sailing offshore for several years taught me the ferociousness and indifference of the sea and weather. All have their beauty.
HavenNow on Vancouver Island, I am exposed daily to the sea, sky, and land which constantly challenge me with their ever-changing moods.

I showed an interest in art early on and was influenced by my uncle, who was a gifted sign writer. Periodically I dabbled in oils, acrylics, and pencil sketching, but only after retirement from sailing did I pay serious attention to painting.
Autumn GiftDrawn by the emotion and brilliance of watercolours, I have focused almost entirely on this medium for the past few years. I am intrigued by the flexibility of watercolours to portray subtle and vivid colours and to reflect dazzling light; and I work to create realistic and impressionistic images.
Mum's BirthplaceA recent direction for me is landscapes and urban scenes in pen and ink including architectural-style renderings of private homes.
My work is in private collections in Australia, Canada, England, Ireland and the USA.
